Reconmendations

I would recommend for further research that I record the age and race of the person who is being served. This could give more information about what type of people speak Ebonics today. What needs to be researched more in-depth is the age and ethnicity of people that speak Ebonics.

Conclusions

I think that based on my research I can conclude that most students at Decatur High have heard, read, or spoken Ebonics more or less. I can also conclude that 6 out of 10 people that speak Ebonics have ancestors from the slavery era in the South. I also found out that 8 out of 10 people that speak Ebonics speak it with their friends. I also found out that only 4 out of 11 people can understand Ebonics completely, and 10 out of 11 people are aware of Ebonics.

Interpretation of Data

From the data that I collected I found that 10 out of 11 people are aware of the English dialect of Ebonics. I think this means that most people in our school are exposed to Ebonics.

My subjects for this survey will be students from Decatur High of all races. I will collect my data by handing out written questionnaire. This is my survey: 1. Are you aware of the English dialect of Ebonics? 2. How well can you comprehend Ebonics when it is spoken? 3. How often do you use this dialect? 4. If you do speak Ebonics who are some of the types of people you talk to using Ebonics? 5. Do you have any ancestors that you are aware of that lived in the slavery era in the South?
